About Anwar

Personal contact with one dedicated bookkeeper

At Anwar Consulting you deal with one person who knows your business. Below I briefly explain how I ended up in this profession.

Anwar Ahmad, founder and bookkeeper at Anwar Consulting

How it started

My interest in finance began during the second year of my bachelor’s degree, when I did an internship in the finance department of a hotel. What started as an internship turned into several years with the organisation. That’s where I learned the profession in practice: working with figures that have to be right, deadlines that don’t move and colleagues who rely on your administration.

I completed my bachelor’s degree in International Business Management in the Netherlands, with a minor in International Treasury Management. That combination of business thinking and financial depth is something I still use daily.

From family to a practice

My experience with bookkeeping for the self-employed started close to home. When my mother became a driving instructor, I took on her financial administration. It worked well for both of us, and before long I was also helping several cousins in the taxi sector and an entrepreneur in healthcare.

From there it gradually grew: media, consultancy, legal services, hairdressing, hospitality, security and construction. By now I have around three years of experience with bookkeeping for self-employed professionals across a range of sectors.

Why Anwar Consulting

I genuinely enjoy this work, and I noticed there’s a need for a bookkeeper who takes the time to explain things. Particularly for international entrepreneurs: the Dutch tax system isn’t always easy to navigate, and the communication around it often uses terminology that isn’t obvious to everyone.

That’s why I work in Dutch, English and Arabic, and explain things in plain language. My aim is straightforward: that you stay in control of your administration and have enough calm and time to focus on your business.
